Thomas O’Briant

Thomas O'Briant officially joins the Sockers staff after volunteering to give back to the soccer community. His first stint with the Sockers was working with the BO4/05 team as a volunteer helping Coach/Director Kraig Chiles and Mark O'Sullivan to train and develop the squad as they won the regular season, NPL, and Surf College Cup.

An avid player since the age of 5, Thomas has been around the game for over 37 years. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Thomas played for the highest-level clubs in North Carolina for over ten years, competing for state titles and winning multiple tournaments across the east coast. He was selected as an ODP (Olympic Development Program) player in 1993, representing the state of North Carolina.

Coach Thomas shares that he sought out the Cardiff Sockers because "It's a special club, and to play a small role in the community of Cardiff is a true gift. It's an amazing group of talented people, kids, and parents, and I'm excited about the opportunity to learn, grow and lead a team."
